As part of the 2022 Washington Organics Management Law, many businesses in King County are now required to divert organic waste, such as food scraps and yard waste, away from the landfill. Businesses can subscribe to curbside service or implement another solution, such as on-site composting. The Solid Waste Division created the Commercial Organics Resource program to help businesses comply with the new law, access opportunities to conserve resources, and save money. The program is currently offering in-person technical assistance and resources to businesses in unincorporated King County. Visit their website to learn more or contact organics@kingcounty.gov with requests!
